CUETS Named One of Top 100 Employers in Canada

Toronto - Earlier today, Media Corp Canada released the annual listing of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, a subjective guide of Canada’s Best Places to Work. CUETS was one of six Saskatchewan companies to make the grade and is joined on the list by stalwart Saskatchewan employers SaskTel, Cooperative Trust, The Cooperators, SED Systems and Yanke Transport.

Canada’s Top 100 Employers, reported by the Globe and Mail as Canada’s Number One selling business book last year, will hit newsstands in late November. Starting from a potential pool of 42,000 employers with a profile of active recruitment and plans for growth, the researchers narrowed the search to 5,000 organizations that demonstrated excellence in one or more of the criteria areas. After a review of workforce management policies, total compensation, benefits, innovative human resources practices and each organizations effort’s at supporting their particular communities, the final list of 100 employers was selected.

CUETS received positive comments for its vacation levels and related policies, wellness program, academic tuition support plan and its performance bonus program, which links annual bonus payments to a combination of corporate and individual success factors.

Stan Kuss, pleased by the external validation, also acknowledged that much more work needs to be done. "It’s great to see the recognition for the efforts of all employees in building a healthy and productive workplace, but mostly it tells us that we are making ongoing progress with our Human Resources development plan. This is absolutely critical to our success because, unlike some other environments, CUETS’ future success is highly dependent on the knowledge and contributions of its staff."

Looking ahead to the future, Stan noted a number of recent or planned human resources and training initiatives that will move the organization forward. "The opening of dedicated, well-equipped learning centres in Winnipeg and Regina will help us to expand internal training efforts, the introduction of a flu shot clinic this fall will help create a healthier workplace and the introduction of online employee attitude surveys will keep the management team in closer touch with the needs and viewpoints of all employees."
