CUETS and L'Alliance Announce Partnership
November, 1999 - Earlier today, Stan Kuss, CEO
of CUETS and Denis Couture, CEO of L'Alliance des caisses
populaires de l'Ontario announced a decision to work
together under an agreement that will benefit both organizations.
CUETS will provide card and merchant services to the
caisses populaires, affiliates of L'Alliance (caisses
populaires) and they, in turn, will promote the full
suite of CUETS MasterCard products to their members.
Initially, the focus will be on the transition of their
members from their current Visa offering to the CUETS
MasterCard product offering that best meets their needs.
"L'Alliance des caisses populaires de l'Ontario is
pleased to have reached an agreement with CUETS that
will allow its affiliate caisses populaires to offer,
to their members and merchants, an array of products
that will better suit their needs, paired with a potential
for additional revenue for the caisses populaires. Although
this is an important change for our members, I am confident
that the end result will be a win-win situation," said
Denis Couture.
Kuss, in turn, stated "We are looking forward to working
with L'Alliance and supporting them in their goals to
enhance their card and merchant business. I am confident
that, together, we can make great strides in providing
the caisses populaires with top-notch card products
and services." L'Alliance will issue MasterCard cards
under the affiliate model through the CU CREDIT service
option and their merchant program will operate in a
proprietary capacity. A vital part of providing services
to L'Alliance members is the ability to communicate
in French. L'Alliance is working closely with CUETS
to expand French communication options - both verbal
and written. As a result, L'Alliance members and, in
the future, other francophone cardholders will be able
to interface with CUETS in French if they choose. Working
together with L'Alliance also means the addition of
their card and merchant volumes to CUETS' growing portfolio.
With 750,000 cards and 600 clients, CUETS is already
in the top 10% of MasterCard issuers worldwide.
"This agreement," Kuss stated, "further contributes
to CUETS' ability to support all its clients, both in
terms of volume efficiencies and enhanced services.
We are confident that both credit unions and caisses
populaires will benefit from this new partnership."
